Context and Objectives
Following the Brétigny accident, the Accident Investigation Bureau (BEA-TT) required SNCF Réseau to conduct a triennial audit regarding the current and future condition of assets, as well as the assurance of rail safety through maintenance.
Approach and Results
The assignment comprises three stages:
- Audit of the preservation of operational safety through asset maintenance;
- Assessment of maintenance policies;
- Modelling of network performance trends based on the investment trajectory.
The assessment of maintenance needs relies on mesoscopic modelling of network infrastructure and the use of the Eqylibr® simulation platform developed by IMDM.
Key figures:
Audit contribution to the negotiation of €1.5 billion in additional investment dedicated to halting infrastructure ageing from 2028 onwards.
